Nutrition and Meals
Mealtime and snack-time are an important part of LB’s developmental program. Staff members supervise and participate in these activities with the children. Meals are catered by a licensed catering business.
Note: Infants are fed formula and baby foods brought in unopened or properly sealed containers from home. Older infants may be fed both LB food and food brought from home.
LB does not provide breakfast, but does provide a morning snack. Please make sure your child has something to eat before arrival at LB.
A nutritious lunch is served four days a week to Tiny Tots, Engineers, Preschoolers and Explorers. Children bring bag lunches from home on Thursdays. Monthly menus are posted in each classroom and sent home to parents. Parents should provide alternative foods if required due to allergies, religious, or special medical diet. A parent should inform the teacher of such necessary substitutions no later than the preceding day.
A morning and mid-afternoon snack is provided by LB. Fruit, crackers, milk and other healthy snacks are served. A snack menu that repeats every two weeks will be provided to parents and is posted in the classroom.
Food brought from home as an alternative to LB-provided lunch (or snack) or for a special day celebration is always used, and the leftovers returned home or discarded the same day it is brought.
