Arlington Public Schools
Little Beginnings works along side the Arlington Public School (APS) system to incorporate inclusive preschool programs. The APS program is known as the Preschool Integrated Program (PIP). It was established with LB in 2001 and has been full of success stories! During the past years, the children with special needs in the PIP have been integrated with the Explorer and Preschool classes, and it has been a terrific experience for all involved.
Students enrolled in PIP learn many new skills from the children here at LB. In addition, it’s been wonderful to watch the children at LB take on leadership roles and learn new friendship skills themselves. The best part about this program is that all the kids are Explorers or Preschoolers — no one is different.
As noted earlier, the PIP has students with special needs who are integrated with both the Explorer and Preschool classes. The APS teachers trade off between the two classes so that one will be in each classroom during public school hours.
